Get to Know Sharon Wilhide

Sharon lives in Carroll County with her husband and two elementary aged children, both students within the Carroll County Public Schools system—in her husband’s childhood home. Sharon is deeply integrated into the local community, frequently utilizing the county’s recreational facilities, trails, and libraries. Her commitment to community service is evidenced by her active involvement in the Girl Scouts and her role as Vice President of the PTA at her children’s school.

Driven by a lifelong passion for education and student advocacy, Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Deaf Studies from Towson University in 2008, followed by a Master of Science in Deaf Education from McDaniel College in 2010. She holds several Advanced Professional Licenses, including certifications in Generic Special Education (Grades 1-8), Elementary Education (Grades 1-6), Hearing Impaired, and Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-3).

Sharon initiated her professional career within Carroll County Public Schools as a hearing itinerant, providing specialized support services to students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. In this capacity, she also conducted professional development and in-service training for educators. Currently, Sharon serves as an Itinerant Teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools, supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students from preschool through graduation.
